Though pictures and video provide the main substance of the project,
it is the music that really drives it. It's important to remember
that the emotion in the imagery that you have laid out can either
be enhanced or diminished by the music that you choose so it's important
to choose your music selections carefully. You will want to choose
songs that accentuate the feelings behind the pictures . Also, you
should include some music that reflects the tastes of the subject
of the montage, but you do not want to overwhelm the project with
one style of music. For example, in a montage for a child, you may
want to include some of the music that your child enjoys. However,
you will not want the entire project to have just teen-pop music
because old audience members may not be able to
relate to it.
At this point you should have a good idea as to the pictures, video
clips and scenes that will make up the project. It's time now to
create the overall feel of the montage by selecting the music. You
should go scene by scene jotting down songs that you think may work
best for each. We suggest three or four songs per scene. Don't feel
restricted to a certain type of song for each section. Baby pictures
look great with slow, heartfelt tracks such as Louis Armstrong's
"What a wonderful world", but they also are fun with a
light faster song like Talking Heads' "Stay up late".
At first, you should just be jotting down any songs that pop into
your head when you think of the scene.
Once you have a list of songs for each scene, you should begin narrowing
down your selections. Each song should cover approximately ten to
twelve pictures. If you have a section with twenty pictures, you
will need two songs. Each picture will generally be on screen for a duration of 4 to 6 seconds. It is important to remember that you want a
well balanced program which is best achieved by creating a soundtrack
comprised of a variety of song styles. Well thought out music tracks
and order can often separate an interesting Photo / Video Montage
from a boring one.
We accept music in most formats including cd, audio cassette, minidisk,
and DAT cassette. Music can be delivered physically or via email.
If you don't have the song you're looking for, we can usually provide
it.
